Ganja La Pass Trek - Days

Ganja La Pass Trek is a popular trek in the Langtang Region, located in the western part of Nepal. Ganja La pass Trek is a 15-day long trekking package which passes through one of the most difficult trekking paths in Nepal. It requires special equipments, well-experienced guides, porters, and trekkers with previous trekking experience to successfully complete the Ganja La Pass Trek. The trail passes through rocky paths set against the beautiful backdrop of snow-capped mountain peaks. Ganja La Pass Treklking will be full of adventure and thrill as it is moderately strenuous type of trekking requiring considerable physical stamina and strength. Gosainkunda Lake which you come across during the course of trekking is another highlight of the trek as the holy lake is the center for most of the Hindu pilgrims. Taking this into account, Ganja La Pass Trek can also be considered as pilgrimage type of trekking in Nepal.
Ganja La Pass Trek takes you through the beautiful valley of Langtang. According to the legends, the term Langtang was discovered by a Buddhist lama following a runaway yak which gave it the name of Langdhang (‘Lang’ is the Tibetan term for Yak and ‘Dhang’ means to follow) which during the course of time became more popular as Langtang. Ganja La Pass Trek also provides spectacular views of the great mountain peaks like Langtang Lirung and several others.
Ganja  Trekking starts from the town of Syabru Besi in Lamjung and over the course of next two weeks you will be enjoying the views of mountains like Langtang Ri, Ganesh Himal and Lang Sisa, and also pass through several glacier rivers and high passes of Langtang region.

Day 01: Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu
Our representatives will be there at the Airport to receive and welcome you upon your arrival at the International Airport of Kathmandu. You will then be transferred to the hotel where you will be briefed in short about the itinerary package. The rest of the time, you will be spending at the hotel.
Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu
The second day of the itinerary, you will be sightseeing around the Kathmandu Valley, observing temples and monuments many of which have been enlisted in the UNESCO’s list of World Heritages. You will travel around the Durbar Squares of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur and observe ancient art and architecture. Also, you will sightsee around Pasthupatinath and Swyambhunath Stupa, two major pilgrimage destinations for Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. In the evening, you will return back to the hotel.
Day 03: Drive to Syabru Besi:
The next day, you will be driving to Syabru Besi from Kathmandu. It will nearly be around 9 hours of drive from Kathmandu through spectacular views of mountains, natural landscapes, waterfalls and paddy fields covering around 117 kms before finally reaching Syabru Besi. In between, you will stop briefly at Dhunche, the headquarters of Rasuwa district, for rest. Plenty of hotels and lodges are available at Syabru Besi. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.
Day 04: Trek to Lama Hotel:
The destination for the next day will be Lama Hotel, which is a popular place in the Langtang Region for overnight stay. Crossing Bhote Koshi River, we will pursue along Langtang River crossing past several bamboo forests along the rugged path to Rimche located at 2400m altitude at the edge of Langtang River. Lama Hotel is little far from Rimche as it is situated at around 2500m altitude where we will be staying overnight.   
Day05: Trek to Langtang Village
 The next day, we will be moving from Lama Hotel and head towards Langtang Village crossing Ghoda Tabela on the way. Ghoda Tabela is the local term for horse stable. Before reaching Langtang Village, we will have spectacular views of Mount Lirung before heading to meadow where yaks and goats can be seen grazing. We will stay overnight in a guesthouse at Lantang Village.
Day06: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa:
Kyanjin Gompa is a popular place in the Langtang region and it will be our destination on the sixth day as he head further up from Langtang Village. We will pass through Sindum and Yamphu while walking along the trail and reach Laja Khola where there is an amazing viewpoint. Enjoying the magnificent views of Kyanjin Gompa—a Buddhist monastery and waterfall from Lirung and Kinshung, we will finally reach Kyanjin Gompa. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.
 Day07: Rest day in Kyanjin Gompa:
The seventh day of the itinerary is set for rest and acclimatization as we will take rest and save energy for the trek that will follow in the upcoming days. While resting at Kyanjin Gompa we will also enjoy the scenic views of Langtang Lirung, Kenga Himal and other Mountain ranges. If you are willing for some trekking, a short trek can be arranged to the local cheese factory, Buddhist monastery or Tsergo Ri (5033m).
Day 08: Trek to Ngegang Kharka:
Crossing past Langtang Khola, we will ascend the hill and pass through rhododendron and juniper forest to reach to Ngegang Kharka which is a meadow with lush green vegetation. If you are lucky enough, you will see Yaks grazing in the field and also interact with the local villagers.  Overnight stay at a guesthouse.
Day 09: Trek to Keldang via Ganja La Pass:
Negotiating through the rocky trail slippery because of snow and rain, we will climb Ganja La Pass on the ninth day. This will be one of the highlights of the trip as you cross the popular and challenging Ganja La Pass. Enjoying the views of Langtang Himal and Lirung, we will descend to Yangri Khola Valley after which we will cross stream and pass through meadows to make it to Kaldang where we will stay overnight.
Day 10: Trek to Dukpu:
The next day, we will be descending down from Ganja La Pass, lowering further down through a long ridge before treading uphill to enter a valley called as Dupku. Dupku is a small village in Langtang inhabited by the indigenous and local people.
Day 11: Trek to Tarke Gyang:
After having breakfast in the morning, we will resume our trek from Dukpu and cross a Pass which gives another spectacular view of the mountains. Later, we will pass through a forest of spruce and rhododendrons to reach Tarke Gyang- a large Sherpa Village. You can interact with the local Sherpa villagers at Tarke Gyang and learn more about their way of life. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.
Day 12: Trek to Sermathang:
Early in the morning on the 12th day, we will move across the beautiful Sherpa Village- Gangyul which is located at 2520m altitude. The route then lowers down a little before ascending up through forest. Later we will cross the stream to arrive at Chumik from where we will climb further up to village of Sermathang.
Day 13: Drive back to Melamchi Bazaar and to Kathmandu:
The next day, we will be walking down the hill crossing past the villages of Nigale, Gyalsha and Raithani Gyang before moving across pine forest to make it to the village of Dubha Chaur. A little further from Dubha Chaur lies Melamchi Pul Bazaar from where we will drive back to Kathmandu. You will reach the Capital in the evening after couple of hours of drive from Melamchi.
Day 14: Kathmandu free day:
Today is the free day. You can ease your muscles and relax yourself after a long and difficult trek. Later in afternoon, you can go shopping around Thamel to buy souvenirs to your near and dear ones. You will be served your evening dinner amid the cultural dance shown in your honor.
Day 15: Final departure:
We will assist in your last moment preparation and take you to Tribhuvan International Airport which will take you to your next destination. We wish you safe journey and expect to serve you again.
